I think we have all learnt to appreciate the possibilities of online learning throughout this course, even more so because of Covid19. The fact that we were able to carry on without any upset to the course (not so the rest of our lives!) was a port in the storm. Getting a qualification with some focus on online education is also extremely useful at the moment, so in the long run makes all this hard work worthwhile.

Through my experience on the course and through my online teaching, I have come into contact with some of the characteristics of successful online students (see previous post) and will try and encourage these behaviours in future cohorts.

As I currently teach in the first module of a course, I feel my role as an online tutor needs to be nurturing and supportive, maybe more so than I would be in other modules or in a campus environment. Maybe that's right, or maybe I need to chill out and be nicer in general! It's definitely something I am conscious of in my personal demeanor, but I think that teaching (and probably parenthood) has made me become more patient, and happier to explain things clearly etc. I wonder if this is anything to do with being able to relate as a student? Probably.
